LERMA (Elasticity and Strength of Materials Laboratory) was created in 1970 by the Elasticity and Strength of Materials chair of the ETSEIB (forming part of DRMEE since its creation in 1988), with the specific goal to focus on the external partnerships with companies and institutions, to undertake agreements embracing research and technology transfer, advisory services, reports, tests, etc.

During these operating years, LERMA has carried out more than 4000 partnerships of various types and scales, from simple verification tests of material properties, to research and development agreements that have lasted several years.

LERMA performs collaborations in all the various types of areas that are involved in the Strength of Materials and Structures: metallurgical (light and heavyweight), construction, automotive, transport, logistics, facilities, biomedical, etc.
